Gore VIATORR® TIPS Endoprosthesis with Controlled Expansion

The Gore VIATORR® TIPS Endoprosthesis with Controlled Expansion is purpose-built for transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, TIPS, procedures. Designed to support controlled shunt creation, the device allows clinicians to select and maintain the target diameter to help achieve the desired portal pressure gradient.

As an ePTFE-lined stent graft designed specifically for TIPS therapy, the VIATORR® Device combines controlled expansion, long-term patency support, and extensive clinical history. With more than 25 years of performance and safety data, it is a trusted solution for TIPS procedures in patients requiring portal decompression.

Clinical Applications

The VIATORR® TIPS Endoprosthesis is used in TIPS procedures where controlled portosystemic shunting, portal pressure management, and durable shunt patency are required.

TIPS Procedures

  • Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt procedures
  • Portal pressure gradient management
  • Controlled portosystemic shunting
  • Long-term shunt patency support

Portal Hypertension-Related Care

  • Variceal bleeding management
  • Ascites treatment support
  • Patients requiring tailored shunt diameter control
  • Clinical cases requiring controlled expansion

Purpose-Built TIPS Technology

Controlled Expansion

Allows clinicians to precisely select and maintain the target diameter, helping tailor shunt flow according to the desired portal pressure gradient.

ePTFE-Lined Stent Graft

The device is an ePTFE-lined stent graft designed specifically for TIPS procedures, supporting controlled shunt creation and durable performance.

ALTA-Recommended Approach

The American Liver Therapeutic Approaches, ALTA, group recommends using an ePTFE-lined stent graft with controlled expansion to tailor portosystemic shunting based on indication, target gradient, and patient comorbidities.

Long Clinical History

Supported by more than 25 years of clinical performance and safety data in TIPS therapy.

Reported Clinical Outcomes

The VIATORR® Device is supported by clinical data across long-term patency, variceal bleeding, and ascites treatment outcomes.

Long-Term Patency

  • 76% two-year primary patency reported in a randomized controlled study, N = 80

Variceal Bleeding Outcomes

  • 86% one-year survival following early TIPS with the VIATORR® Device
  • 97% one-year control of bleeding following early TIPS
  • No reported increase in hepatic encephalopathy risk at one year compared with pharmacotherapy plus EBL

Ascites Outcomes

  • 93% transplant-free survival reported with the VIATORR® Device
  • Fewer paracenteses required after TIPS compared with paracentesis treatment alone
  • No reported increase in hepatic encephalopathy risk at one year compared with LVP and albumin infusion

Key Features
