Gore VIATORR® TIPS Endoprosthesis with Controlled Expansion

The Gore VIATORR® Device is purpose-built for transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedures. It is the only covered stent for TIPS offering controlled expansion, enabling clinicians to precisely select and maintain the target diameter to achieve the desired portal pressure gradient. Backed by over 25 years of performance and safety data, it is the gold standard in TIPS therapy.

Purpose-Built for TIPS

  • The only ePTFE-lined stent graft for TIPS with controlled expansion
  • ALTA-recommended — The American Liver Therapeutic Approaches (ALTA) group recommends the use of an ePTFE-lined stent graft with controlled expansion to tailor portosystemic shunting based on indication, target gradient, and patient comorbidities
  • Over 25 years of clinical performance and safety data

Clinical Outcomes

Long-Term Patency

  • 76% two-year primary patency — proven in a randomized controlled study (N = 80)

Variceal Bleeding Outcomes (Early TIPS vs. Drug Therapy + EBL)

  • 86% one-year survival following early TIPS with the VIATORR® Device, vs. 61% with pharmacotherapy plus endoscopic band ligation (P < 0.001)
  • 97% one-year control of bleeding following early TIPS, vs. 50% with pharmacotherapy plus EBL (P < 0.001)
  • No increase in the risk of hepatic encephalopathy at 1 year vs. pharmacotherapy plus EBL (P = 0.13)

Ascites Outcomes (TIPS vs. Large Volume Paracentesis)

  • 93% transplant-free survival with VIATORR® Device vs. 52% with large volume paracentesis (LVP) and albumin infusion (P = 0.003)
  • Fewer paracenteses — 1 procedure required post-TIPS vs. 10 with paracentesis treatment alone
  • No increase in the risk of hepatic encephalopathy at 1 year vs. LVP and albumin infusion (P = 0.868)
